Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees

…”Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Mt. 16:6

Jesus told his disciples to be careful and guard against the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees. They are like yeast which makes the whole fresh flour to be leavened. Why dis Jesus say so? In the Old Testament, whenever there is bread offered to God it should be made out of unleavened flour. Unleavened flour can be understood as Holy and acceptable to God. In the unleavened flour if you mix a pint of yeast, the whole flour will become leavened. Jesus’ teaching to them was pure, holy and will make the man for God’s purpose and blessing, it’s like unleavened flour.

If they heed to the wrong teachings it can spoil His whole teaching and make it like leavened flour which is not acceptable in front of God. And more over it can misleadthem from God’s purpose and blessing.

Now, you may think why we need to bother about it, it was said only about Pharisees and Sadducees. My dear friend, teachings of Pharisees and Sadducees does exist in 21^st century congregation. Any teaching that does not agree with the word of God, any teaching that makes fear in the heart instead of faith, any teaching that forces us to follow tradition instead of the word of God is the yeast which spoils us and robesus of our purpose and blessing which comes from God.

Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
