Why Zechariah’s Mouth was shut by angel?
Luke 1:20 “And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.”
Answer to this question we might think, Zechariah made the Angel anger or we can think he doubted God’s Power to give him the Child at his old Age. These may be true but there is more truth hidden that we should understand.
That is Words of his Mouth. He not only doubted, but also He was speaking his doubts and disbelief which can eventually affect God’s intended Blessing for him. Here the angel had to shut Zechariah’s mouth in order to deter him from continually speaking disbelief.
Proverbs 18:20 says “From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied”
Proverbs 18:21 says “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Proverbs 12:14 says “A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his words,..”
You can Ask, whether Our words can hinder God’s Plan in our Life? Yes.
Our words affects our Mind, our mind affects our thinking, and our thinking affects our action. In short Our words can affect our faith.
That is the reason in many of our lives God and his blessing seems no where. We listen and read God’s promises and words, But also it is important that we speak those words in our life. If not speaking at least we should not speak against it OR keep our mouth shut like Zechariah so that God’s promise get established in our life.
