CAN YOU WIN THE SOUL BY ARGUMENT?

ACTS. 19:8-11 Paul entered the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, ARGUING PERSUASIVELY about the kingdom of God. 9But some of them became obstinate; THEY REFUSED TO BELIEVE AND PUBLICLY MALIGNED THE WAY. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus. 10This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord. 11God did extraordinary miracles through Paul,

Gospel can be presented in many ways, by preaching, by discussing, by living and by arguing and proving. Can we win the soul by arguing and proving? Let’s examine Acts chapter 19 verse 8 through 11. Here, in verse 8 Paul spoke boldly for three months ARGUING PERSUASIVELY about the kingdom of God. It seems Paul had won the argument about the way of salvation, but in verse 9, it says they became obstinate and refused to believe it and maligned the way.

Paul was a greatest scholar and one of the greatest men of God. Yet, he could not win the souls by arguing and proving the point. We can see in next verses, he left them and choose to have a discussion instead of arguments, daily for two years. And as a result all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the Word of God. And God did extraordinary miracles through Paul. This event happened in Ephesus. Ephesus was one of the best churches which he established. So, it’s evident that discussion instead of argument helped Paul to win more souls for the kingdom of God.

In the bible we do not see anywhere the gospel being argued & proved and so it won the souls. The human tendency always resist the arguments, if they have been defeated in the argument they may feel obstinate rather than accepting it willingly. It is better to discuss than argue to present the Gospel. It’s essential that we must answer the questions of the person who listen to the gospel from us, but it is unnecessary to argue. Let us choose the better way to present the Gospel which may reach to maximum people and open ways for the miracles to be performed and the people to be saved.

Peace be unto you!
